1. Identity
This website is managed by WeAreTienen vzw,
with registered office at 3300 Tienen, Kumtichstraat 8,
registered in the CBE under number 1030738925.
In these Terms and Conditions, "WeAreTienen" or "we" refers to the non-profit association.
The website is accessible via WeAreTienen.be, bezoektienen.be, visittienen.be and all subdomains.
2. Scope
These Terms and Conditions apply to all users of the website, including:
- Business owner accounts: entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, self-employed persons, liberal professions and organisations that publish a professional activity in Tienen.
- Staff accounts: staff members or collaborators of business owners.
- Visitor accounts: users who consult information, post reviews or comments, or create a personal profile.
By creating an account or using the website, the user confirms that he/she has read and accepted these conditions.
3. Purpose of the website
WeAreTienen.be is a platform that allows entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, self-employed persons, liberal professions and organisations based in Tienen to make their business visible, and that helps visitors discover local initiatives, activities, services and products.
Basic use is free of charge. WeAreTienen reserves the right to offer optional paid extras or services (such as advertising space, additional functionalities, marketing packages).
4. Accounts & user obligations
4.1. Business owner account
A business owner warrants that:
- he/she is authorised to act on behalf of the business;
- all information provided is correct, up to date and complete;
- changes are communicated in good time and/or updated on the platform.
Business owners are solely responsible for the content they add (texts, photos, documents, opening hours, logos, etc.).
4.2. Visitor account
Visitors may:
- post reviews (for businesses that allow this);
- manage favourites or lists;
- use other available functionalities.
Visitors must:
- communicate respectfully, correctly and without deception;
- not upload copyright-protected material without permission.
4.3. Prohibited use
The following is not permitted:
- posting incorrect, misleading or illegal information;
- uploading material for which the user does not hold the rights;
- technical misuse of the website (hacking, scraping, spam, automated requests, attempts to bypass security, etc.);
- publishing inappropriate, racist, offensive or discriminatory content.
WeAreTienen may remove, modify or block accounts or content without prior notice when these conditions are violated.
5. Content & usage rights (photos, text, logos, videos, etc.)
5.1. Licence from the user to WeAreTienen
By placing content on the website, the user (Business owner or Visitor) grants WeAreTienen a:
- non-exclusive,
- royalty-free,
- worldwide,
- transferable (within the operation of the non-profit association),
- licence
to use the material for:
- publication on WeAreTienen.be and related (sub-)domains;
- promotional and informational communication from WeAreTienen (website, social media, newsletters, printed material);
- campaigns to highlight Tienen and businesses in Tienen;
- archiving and backup purposes.
We do not request commercial exclusive use and do not claim ownership — copyright remains with the user.
5.2. Warranty of rights
The user warrants that:
- he/she holds the necessary rights to the content posted;
- the content does not infringe the rights of third parties.
The user indemnifies WeAreTienen against any third-party claims relating to the content posted.
6. Intellectual property rights of WeAreTienen
All elements of the website, including:
- structure;
- code;
- logo;
- layout;
- database structure;
- design;
- texts and visuals specific to the non-profit association;
are protected by copyright and database rights.
None of these elements may be reproduced without the prior written consent of WeAreTienen.
7. Availability of the website
WeAreTienen strives for correct and stable operation of the website, but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free functioning.
WeAreTienen is not liable for:
- downtime, malfunctions, maintenance or technical issues;
- delays, loss of data, bugs or errors;
- temporary or permanent unavailability of information;
- problems caused by external parties or force majeure.
WeAreTienen may temporarily suspend the website for maintenance or updates.
8. Limitation of liability
8.1. General
WeAreTienen is not liable for:
- indirect damage, consequential damage or loss of profit;
- damage resulting from incorrect or outdated information entered by users;
- damage resulting from hacking or cyberattacks, except in cases of intent or gross negligence;
- damage arising from incorrect use of the website by the user.
8.2. Moderation
WeAreTienen is not obliged to actively monitor all content. Upon reports of abuse, content may be modified or removed.

The website contains links to third parties. WeAreTienen is not responsible for the content or operation of external websites.

WeAreTienen processes personal data in accordance with the GDPR.

10. Paid services & extra options
Although the basic functionality is free of charge, WeAreTienen reserves the right to:
- offer paid options (such as banners, premium placements, additional photos, special promotions, statistics, etc.);
- change prices and packages;
- organise promotions or temporary actions.
All payments are made in accordance with the conditions stated for the specific service.
11. Changes to the Terms and Conditions
WeAreTienen may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Important changes will be announced via the website or by email.
Continued use of the website will be considered acceptance of the amended conditions.
12. Applicable law and competent court
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Belgian law.
In the event of disputes, only the courts of the Leuven district shall have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law prescribes a different court.
